Rochester’s Sweet Neighbor: Fresh Apples Minutes from Downtown

Sekapp Orchard Photo Op | photo by Rochester Local

Our family just LOVES fall. The crunchy apples, the crisp fall air, all the fall flavors, and the loads
of outdoor family fun! One of our favorite spots to visit in the fall is Sekapp Orchard. There are
many reasons to love this local treasure, but we’ve rounded up five things we love most about
this orchard.

Apples

No one, we mean NO ONE, does apples like Minnesota. Sekapp Orchard does it well, offering over 20 different varieties of apples! Sweet, crisp, tart, or tender, they offer a little bit of it all. Whether you want to make a quick stop by their market to grab a bag or take a leisurely stroll through the orchard to pick your own, you will not be disappointed.

Pumpkins and Gourds

Looking for a classic pumpkin, they have it. Bumpy pumpkin, they have that too. They have striped ones, yellow, green, and white ones, in every shape and size. Want to pick your own? Grab a wagon and head down to the U-pick area to hunt for the perfect pumpkin to carve!

In addition to pumpkins, they also offer a grand selection of gourds. Choosing a few to decorate around home for fall won’t be easy, as each one is cuter than the next!

As a bonus, Sekapp sets up Pumpkinland during the peak of the harvest season. You and your family can enjoy the corn maze, straw bail maze, and other fall-related attractions. They also have a cute photo op spot AND a sand pit filled with all sorts of sand toys!

Mums

White, yellow, orange, red, purple, pink, and maroon–the color variety and size of their mums are spectacular! Stroll through Sekapp’s yard and hunt for the perfect color and size of mum to decorate your front doorstep!

Local Area Produce

Right at the front entrance of Sekapp’s Orchard is the market, which sells a variety of produce grown locally. Seasonal items include squash, tomatoes, onions, peppers, watermelon and more. Check out their website to see what produce is in season and in stock at their stand.

Sekapp also has their own line of apple butter, jams, jellies, apple cider, honey, salsa and more!

Tasty Crate/Kimmy’s

After a fun morning or afternoon of playing and apple picking, enjoy a made-to-order beignet from Tasty Crate! These tasty little fritters come in multiple flavors: choose from original, Nutella, matcha, apple pie, or cookies n’ cream. After they come out of the frier, they are sprinkled with powdered sugar for an added sweet touch.

We tried the Nutella flavor, and it was DELICIOUS!
