Movies are an outstanding escape, but there is nothing like a live theatrical performance. The energy and interaction you feel with those on stage cannot be found anywhere else. This is why the Pickup Truck Opera is such an exciting opportunity for Rochester!
Mixed Precipitation, a Twin Cities-based performance company, is bringing a fresh take on theater to the Rochester area, but not just any theater, outdoor opera! Like a theatrical ice cream truck, the Pickup Truck Opera will be bringing more than a play; there will be music, treats, and fun for all ages! They are bringing a family-friendly and high-interest production: an adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey, which means there will be mythical monsters, enchanting sirens, battles, and even flesh-eating cyclops. All this adventure will be presented in a variety of music from baroque melodies to Dolly Parton tunes, so not your typical opera. The local productions are free, but there is are suggested donations to help keep gas in the tank and the show on the road.
