Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and you know what that means. It’s officially the (capitalist) season of love, when aisles overflow with red and pink sweets and stuffed animals holding pillowy hearts, and local flower shops take orders for deliveries of a dozen roses that will probably die in less than a week. Mmm, they do smell so good though! However, if (like me) the road to your special someone’s heart runs straight through their stomach, then you might want to try some of the more non-traditional Valentine’s Day treats and heart-shaped snacks popping up on the menus of area eateries for a limited time.
Now, I won’t lie. Fine dining this is not, and most of these lovey-dovey dishes aren’t exactly what I’d call haute cuisine. But if you’re dying to serenade your sweetheart or family with a special rendition of “Take another little piece of my heart(-shaped pizza) now, baby! Break another little bit of my heart(-shaped donut) so we can share!”, then these amorous eats could be the perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day.
