Please join us on Friday, January 24th at 6:30 pm for an artist reception for Tierney Parker’s “SEEN” exhibition. Light refreshments will be available, and the artist talk will begin at 7pm. The evening will feature music and poetry performances connected to Parker’s work by special guests Liana + Kylee.

In “SEEN”, Parker’s vibrant paintings honor past selves, past lives— a visual autobiography of the woman she has become. Figures without faces stand before us, radiating self-sovereignty and self-determination. They become both mirrors and thresholds into the artist’s inner life and ultimately, our own. Her work recalls exuberant teenage doodles in notebook margins—a compulsion to creatively roam, to declare “I am still here”. Repetitive patterns and line work can be seen across her work, motifs that have become a signature of her work. Parker’s collages assemble and suture parts of herself and the collective across timelines and histories, often carrying a sense of millennial Afro-nostalgia.
