Discovery Walk Artist Appreciation Event | Discovery Walk

The City of Rochester and Destination Medical Center Development Agency are celebrating the installation of Poems at the Park in Discovery Walk. Media will have an opportunity to learn more details about Poems at the Park and meet the artist, Ayub HajiOmar.

Using language and light, Poems in the Park is a collection of uplifting poems that creates a dialogue with those passing by. This connection is fostered through poetry that is accessible to all. The poems are inscribed at a lower elevation to accommodate individuals in wheelchairs and young children, ensuring inclusivity in the experience. The language is simple, and the poems are presented in multiple languages, emphasizing a sense of welcome and belonging for everyone.

This media event will include comments and interviews with Council President Carlson, Destination Medical Center Executive Director Patrick Seeb and artist Ayub HajiOmar.

Discovery Walk is a linear parkway along 2^nd Avenue SW in downtown Rochester that will serve pedestrians as well as vehicle access. Discovery Walk connects Heart of the City to Soldier’s Field Park and serves as an extension of the Heart of the City public realm project. Discovery Walk has a high-amenity pedestrian experience while also maintaining flexibility for bike and vehicular access, civic events and future development.
