Newt’s: Marvin’s Burger

When we asked for Rochester’s absolute best, our community made one thing very clear—you cannot skip Marvin’s Burger at Newt’s. This boldly flavored burger is topped with a secret blend of seasonings (created by the original Newt’s cook, Marvin), cheddar cheese, hardwood-smoked hickory bacon, and a tangy chipotle mayo. With three locations in Rochester, Newt’s makes it easy to enjoy this Rochester favorite.
Snappy Stop: Snappy Burger

A Rochester staple since 1985, Snappy Stop serves classic burgers that the Rochester community can’t get enough of. The Snappy Burger features all the essentials, with no frills: mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion. All you have to do is pick whether you want a single, double, or triple patty. Grabbing a quick bite is hassle-free at Snappy Stop, as they have a convenient drive-thru located on South Broadway.
Hot Chip Burger Bar: The BBWT or OH MY CURD

While opinions varied on which burger at Hot Chip is best, our community agreed that Hot Chip’s burgers are top-notch! Favorites include the BBWT and OH MY CURD. The BBWT includes two beef patties, bacon, and bacon jam, and OH MY CURD is topped with crispy fried onions, bacon, and you guessed it: cheese curds. Located in SW Rochester, Hot Chip also has a beautiful patio for the perfect outdoor dining experience.

Forager Brewery: Double Diego Burger
Another resounding favorite amongst the Rochester community was the Double Diego Burger at Forager Brewery. The Double Diego includes two patties, cheese, onions, house-made pickles, and a delicious remoulade. Locals share that Forager Brewery has the best burgers when you’re craving something unique and spicy. Located in NW Rochester, Forager Brewery also has a great lineup of craft beers to enjoy with your burger.
The Tap House: Peanut Butter and Jealousy

A burger topped with peanut butter and strawberry jam?! Yes, please! The Peanut Butter and Jealousy burger at The Tap House includes peanut butter, American cheese, bacon, crispy onions, and a sweet strawberry jam. And just like the classic childhood sandwich, this burger has become a favorite amongst the Rochester community. The Tap House has two locations in Rochester for you to enjoy this creative blend of flavors.
Red Cow: Le Shroom and 60/40

Topped with roasted mushrooms, Gruyère, bordelaise, and truffle aioli, Red Cow’s Le Shroom burger is a fan favorite. However, when locals talk about the best burgers at Red Cow, it’s a tight race between the Le Shroom and the 60/40—a patty made of 60% beef and 40% bacon. Whichever you choose, our community agrees it’s a delicious win. Red Cow is located in downtown Rochester, near St. Marys Hospital.
The Hubbell House: French Onion Burger

A short drive outside Rochester will get you to the historic Hubbell House, where you can enjoy a French Onion Burger. The French Onion burger includes a gourmet blend of ground chuck, brisket, and short rib, topped with Gruyère cheese, sherry onions, parmesan crisp, and French onion sauce. Add au jus on the side, and locals say it’s the most delicious burger around! The Hubbell House is located just outside Rochester in Mantorville, MN.
Chester’s: Blackberry Jalapeño Burger

When locals talk about Rochester’s best restaurants, Chester’s is often at the top of the list—and for good reason! This downtown favorite masterfully blends classic comfort food with bold flavors. Case in point: the Blackberry Jalapeño burger. Topped with brie cheese curds, sweet blackberry jam, roasted jalapeños, and candied bacon, the Blackberry Jalapeño burger is a delicious blend of sweet and spicy. Chester’s is located in downtown Rochester at Galleria at University Square.

This layered smash-style burger is available as a single, double, or triple patty. Smothered in American cheese and garnished with house-made pickles and burger sauce, housed between a toasted Brioche bun – this is a true burger delight.
