My Perfect Day: Simplicity, Self Care, Sauvignon Blanc

If I were to describe my perfect day, what would it look like, what would I do? This question has been on my mind for the last month, and I’ve had a hard time pinning down my answer. I know I would want to do things I enjoy and be with those I love.

Wake Up 8:00 AM: If you have a child, this is sleeping in!

I need a solid eight to nine hours of sleep to be the best version of myself, so I can’t think of anything better than waking up after 7:00 AM. Adam would get Fritz dressed, and I would take my time with a hot shower and enough time to blow dry my hair and do my makeup. BUT since this is my perfect day someone would be there to blow out my hair for me! I never have better hair days than the ones after I visit Kelsey Kent at R!ah, so she would be there to give me perfect beachy waves, and I could listen to a podcast (I’m currently obsessed with “Culpable”).

Breakfast:

Once I declared myself ready and not on anyone else’s timeline but my own, we would head over to Benedict’s for a leisurely brunch. Fritz wouldn’t throw his food and Adam would tell the server never to let my mimosa get empty.

Morning:

After we finished up breakfast, we would head home to put Fritz for his nap. When he is home with us on the weekends, he usually takes a morning nap and an afternoon nap, so I would give him a smooch and head off to do my own thing. I worried that wanting to be alone on part of my perfect day would make me seem selfish, but if I’m honest, I need alone time to recharge and recalibrate.

Alone time:

On a good day, I would love to cozy up with a great book and some Kim Crawford, but this is my perfect day, so we are getting a bit more adventurous!

First, I would head over to Luxe Beauty Lounge or Ageless Aesthetics for a facial. I try to take outstanding care of my skin, and the facials I’ve had at these two places were terrific! I also always have my nails done so I for sure would get a manicure and a pedicure at either Nail Envy or Polished.

Lunch:

I work remotely from home during the week, so one of the most significant ways I recharge is by seeing my girlfriends. I would meet Claire, Kelsey, and Virginia out for a leisurely lunch. Somewhere with a great patio, like Five West!

After lunch, I would head back home. Fire up some Bravo and zone out for a little bit. When do you ever get to watch TV without thinking about making the bed, doing laundry or vacuuming? These things would all have done while I was taking care of myself!

Happy Hour:

My perfect day includes Happy Hour; it has to! Adam, Fritz and I would head over to Wildwood. They have a superb HH and Fritz loves the chicken wings. He and I usually split them!

The rest of the night:

That was a lot for one day! I’m probably going to be so tired, so we would all head home as a family! Maybe have a drink out of the deck, and I would snuggle Fritz to sleep around 8:00 PM.

Friends, family, some self-care, and a good glass of wine, these are the simple elements of my perfect day!
