An Afternoon of Music, Story, and Community Healing Featuring Ryan Sullivan

LAKE CITY, MN — The Lake City Suicide Prevention Coalition will host Waves of Hope on Saturday, January
31, 2026 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Lincoln High School in Lake City, a community-focused event centered on
suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and the power of shared stories to foster hope and connection.
Waves of Hope is designed to create a safe, welcoming space where community members can gather, reflect,
and learn together. Through music, personal storytelling, and meaningful dialogue, the event aims to reduce
stigma around mental health, increase awareness of local supports, and remind individuals and families that
help and hope are always within reach.

The event will feature a keynote presentation by Ryan Sullivan, a Midwest-based singer-songwriter whose
work blends music and lived experience to open honest conversations about mental health. Sullivan began
playing guitar at a young age and, after medically retiring from a career in law enforcement due to PTSD,
turned to music as both healing and purpose.

Since beginning his professional music career in 2023, Sullivan has performed more than 150 shows annually
across the Midwest, particularly throughout the Upper Mississippi River Valley. His debut EP, Invisible Wounds,
released in June 2025, explores themes of trauma, resilience, and recovery, offering audiences a powerful
reminder that unseen struggles deserve compassion and understanding.

“Ryan’s story and music resonate deeply with the mission of this event,” coalition member Ariana Wright
shared. “He brings authenticity, vulnerability, and hope, creating space for people to feel seen, understood, and
less alone.”

In addition to the keynote, the event will include a facilitated panel discussion and audience conversation
focused on practical mental health education, supportive actions community members can take, and pathways
to help. The panel will be moderated by Erik Sievers, Executive Director of the Hiawatha Valley Mental Health
Center, bringing professional insight and community perspective to the discussion.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees will also have opportunities to connect with local mental health resources
and learn more about ongoing support offered through the Lake City Suicide Prevention Coalition, including
support groups, community partnerships, and upcoming initiatives.

Waves of Hope reflects a shared commitment to compassion, connection, and collective care. Community
members of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate at their comfort level.
