H.O.P. into the Park | Whitewater State Park

Join us for our monthly H.O.P. into the Park (Healthy Older People) program hosted by the Friends of Whitewater State Park!

This month we welcome Julia Geschke with the MNDNR’s Nongame Wildlife Program. She will be talking with us about the Timber Rattlesnake. This often-mischaracterized species was actively hunted for a bounty until 1989. Unfortunately, these bounties resulted in the decimation of local populations. Since 1996, Rattlesnakes have been listed as a state threatened species. Julia will talk about MNDNR’s efforts to help these snakes recover.
