Artist Spotlight Sound Performance: Pooch Karton | Rochester Art Center

Pooch Karton Performs Zumbro Bend 

Artist Pooch Karton will perform a live version of his companion sound work for Pete Driessen’s Zumbro Bend Installation. The multichannel, audiovisual performance will expand upon ideas of river sinuosity, alluviation, and the interplay of the river and the human landscape. During the performance, the audience is invited to move through the space and explore the work with eyes and ears.  

The performance will run 30-35 minutes. 

Bio: 

Pooch Karton is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Working with synthesis and sample manipulation, Pooch explores the multivalence of sound as both human artifice and natural phenomenon. Seeking new forms in the interplay of these ideas, his body of work has included: recordings, performances, and installations. Pooch has released recordings via Dream Disc and Nada (which he co-runs) and presented work across the United States. In 2019, he co-founded InSitu – Festival for Electronic Music And Sound Art in Minneapolis. Listen to his sound art here.
