Take a Ride on the Great River Ridge Trail

Looking for an out-of-town trail for a longer bike, run, hike, or in-line skate? The Great River Ridge Trail might be just the path to try!

Located 10 minutes from Rochester, this trail is currently 13 paved miles, from Eyota to Plainview. Running on the grade of a former railroad track, this trail is mostly flat, and offers beautiful views of the countryside, river bluffs, and the small towns along the way. The trail passes near Carley State Park and Whitewater State Park. Future plans for the Great River Ridge Trail include an extension to Carley State Park.

The Great River Ridge Trail offers a parallel trail for horseback riders with a natural surface, offering yet another option for taking in the views. Take a break and explore the towns along the way: Eyota, Elgin, and Plainview. In the winter, the trail is popular with snowmobilers.
