THE MATCHUP
Rochester and Wausau meet again after a 2025-26 season that ended with the Grizzlies eliminating the Cyclones in the Central Division Semifinals. Wausau finished 27-19-1-0, third in the Central Division, behind Rochester’s second-place finish. The Cyclones were led by All-Central Division forward Jackson Schroeder, who posted 64 points last season.
The matchup was rarely comfortable. Wausau edged Rochester 2-1 on Dec. 30, and later earned a 5-2 win on Feb. 28, giving this division rivalry plenty of recent history heading into the new season.
