After pregnancy, my body looks and feels different, and frankly, my style priorities have majorly changed. Do you remember calling shirts “going out tops” in college? Now everything I buy needs to work for a dinner date with a toddler throwing tofu, or date night with my husband. I work remotely, so I spend a lot of my time in athleisure. As a woman, but also a mom, dressing comfortably is a top priority. The reality is that a diaper change wrestling match, lego toe-stubbing, and toddler-corraling all demand your body to NOT be caged in by skintight jeans.Â
But as someone who has always loved style–and don’t get me wrong, a good pair of high-waisted jeans–here are some tricks for being comfortable, but still looking like myself. I hope that they make you feel good at home with your kids, or out running errands.Â
Invest in black leggings
The investing part is critical. You want a pair that you can wear multiple times a week and will withstand thousands of wash cycles.
These are two of my favorites pairs. I prefer the Lululemon Alight Pant 28″  because you feel held in, but also like you’re not wearing pants!Â
The Alo Yoga 7/8 High-Waist Airbrush Legging is great for barre class and everyday wear.Â
These 90 Degree By Reflex Ankle Length High Waist Power Flex Leggings – 7/8 are a great affordable option and are super comparable to the two pairs above!Â
I’m also definitely wearing leggings out for date night! These Hi-Waist Vegan Leather Leggings are my favorite faux-leather leggings (they are size-inclusive as well).Â
Find a comfortable sweater that fits your style and needs. I feel most comfortable if mine covers my tush.
Here is the sweater I’m currently living in. It is a tunic style and has a double mock neck, which ads a bit of style. I’ve worn it around the house and out and about with leather leggings. I love it so much I’ve ordered it in both black and white (wearing it now)! It is currently 40% off at some retailers; I suggest doing a Google search to find the best price.Â
My new BFF:Â Free People Afterglow Mock Neck TopÂ
This Free People Bella Vist Cowlneck Sweater is on my wishlist! And the price point is incredible!
Add your own flair.
I tend to wear my hair down 99.9% of the time in loose waves, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll throw on a headband or put in a cute hair clip. If you wear your hair up, try a fun ponytail holder! Amazon has a plethora of affordable options, like the three below:
10 Pack of Wide Knot HeadbandsÂ
6 Pack of Knot Headbands – Leopard + Pearl
Comfy Feet = Happy Mom
I typically do daycare dropoff in the morning, so one of my most significant footwear criteria is making sure I can slip my shoes on and off!
I just got a pair of slip-on Chelsea boots. They are waterproof and have excellent traction; they are also perfect for Minnesota winters because they have faux fur lining. Bonus, they are on Amazon Prime. Chooka Women’s Waterproof Plush Chelsea Bootie Boot
I also invested in the Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge II Chelsea Boot last year. They are expensive, but when I look at the cost per wear, they have proved to be worth the price tag!Â
For warmer months, I love a slip-on sneaker. I have a black pair from Vince with a bit of a platform that is similar to these:Â Dr. Scholl’s Kensie Reptile Embossed Platform Sneaker.
